1 year in IT-sphere

Phew, it felt as if it was yesterday that I had my joining letter in hand, anxiety in my mind, optimism in my heart; as I braced up to face the challenging IT world. It gives me immense sense of achievement to realize that one year has passed in this grueling industry. When I look back at the past 365 days of my life, the following events stand out:

1. The exuberance on seeing the word "credited" on the last day of every month.
The first instance was the most special but even after that the happiness was difficult to contain. Financial independence is a big step in anyone's life. So, this one tops the list.

2. The gala time during the Communication Skill training and induction program was the highlight. Making new friends, the gradual transition from a nerdy college student to prudent team player.

3. Enhancing my skill-set
The startling realization of the fact that my knowledge during the 4 hard years of engineering would be futile was a setback. Knowledge of servers, SCCM,  But, it was also a challenge that made me work harder and learn new technologies and platform during the initial training and while on-job.

4. Another big positive was to get up at 3:30 AM in the morning and getting ready for work. Though, initially it was extremely arduous and I had to sacrifice my sleep and bath as well, yes, don't raise your eyebrows..but it is was healthy habit and it has become easier to follow now.

5. Table Tennis
My one year would have been mundane and forlornly had I not played the game. Apparently, the national sport of the IT industry, TT brought back great memories from school. Fortunately, enough I was able to beat quite a few good players in office and it helped to provide a great way to rejuvenate from long hours of work.

6. Great team
This year would not have been anything but mediocre had it not been for the awesome team I got to work with. It was so easy to interact and learn from each one of them. All of them, so far more experienced and senior were extremely helpful and supportive; right from the manager to the leads and the other colleagues. Thanks to all of you- Abhai, Rohit, Jai, Mukul, Anurag, Alok, Harsh, Karandeep, Senthil, Pooja, Gopal, Aditya and Gaurav. Expecting to learn a lot more in the coming year.

7. Another integral part of the past one year was meeting new people. These 365 days, although tiring because of long office hours and going through the daily grind of a system engineer, were made exciting due to the presence of certain people. I made quite a few new friends, some were made while playing on the TT table, some over breakfast, while some in my cab. Notwithstanding the place, they were all a sweet part of this last one year.

Thanks to all my friends- Shubham, Gagan, Bandana, Naina, Priyal, Isha, Shelly, Jyoti, Nikita, Sumit, Saurabh, Harman, Prateek and Priyanka(apologies if I left out anyone)...for making it worthwhile. One year at CSC would have been a monotonous journey without you. Thank you.

8. Team trip and excursion-- This year brought with it the regular team building practices followed by most Corporates every year. There was a 2 day excursion to Dhauj which was a great way to acquaint with the team (Read more about this trip  here).

These 7 points aren't enough to describe the resplendence and as I jot down this blog, all those little memories flash before me and bring a smile to my lips. Hopefully, the next year is equally good and eventful.

Elixir of life

The beauty in Malaysia,
like that of a bride.
The smells scattered like whorls on her visage,
the exhalation when she sighed.

Stopping by the farms,
growing rich red strawberry.
Dazzled by the smell,
like a heaven-struck fairy.

The poignance of that moment,
still afresh in my mind.
Blogging about it,
is anything but a grind.

Like iron to a magnet,
I was stuck to the smell
So sensuous the scape was
that I just had to dwell.

The smells throughout the travels,
eclectic and natural and aromatic
Of petals, breeze and grass,
makes your heart acrobatic.

The terracotta mountains,
turquoise waters around
The natural beauty served,
Knows no bound.

Dancing like a lunatic,
the brain dispels misery
Like a pauper's resplendence,
when he comes across a treasury.

The effulgent sunshine gels,
the hibiscus and lavender.
The moist air fuses the smells
so subtle and sombre.

The dash of cool breeze,
coming from the sea.
The zen of the flora,
setting you free

A point on earth
where the yin-yan meet
A kernel of heaven,
where divine scents greet.

The poet awakens within you,
inspirations galore in kind.
The nostrils are spoilt for choice
as the soul engulfs the mind.

The picturesque gardens,
the hypnotic highland.
Malaysia is a vibrant flower,
in the world of garland.

The meditative environs,
you absorb all the vibes.
These are the days you yearn for,
the days on which live thrives.

So evocative were these travels,
like entering paradise via slide
The inhalation of scents felt,
like cryptic eyes of a bride.
